The Mekong Delta is a network of distributaries in southwestern Vietnam, between Ho Chi Minh City and Cambodia. This region comprises 12 provinces: Long An, Đồng Tháp, Tiền Giang, An Giang, Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long, Trà Vinh, Hậu Giang, Kiên Giang, Sóc Trăng, Bạc Liêu, and Cà Mau, along with the province-level municipality of Cần Thơ.

The Mekong Delta is like no other region in Vietnam with comprised of dense green rice paddies and lazy and winding rivers. Everywhere, the area is filled with astonishing landscapes, both natural and artificial. The Mekong river is where the Mekong splinters into nine separate branches. Around the river, there are homes, farms, and markets and everything else you can find in a normal life of the local farmers here.

The temperatures in the Mekong delta are all year round about 25-28°C with only slight variations. The dry season in the Mekong delta from October / November to April / May is the preferred travel time.
But even during the rainy season from May to October, the Mekong delta can be visited too. The rain usually comes in short, heavy showers, mostly in the afternoon and only lasts for an hour or so. Only a few days a year the temperature is below 20°C.

From Ho Chi Minh, You can Take a scooter on your own and it will take around 4 hours which makes it fast, easy, and cheap. Or you can travel by bus. You can try at the ticket booth at West Coach Station or you can book online with some reputable company: Phuong Trang, Toan Thang, Hoa Mai Limousine…..

Here are the must-visit attractions in the area: Ancient House of Mr. Vo Van Kiet (Vinh Long), Cai Be Floating Market (Tien Giang), Dong Tam Snake Farm (Tien Giang), Long Tuyen Ancient Village (Can Tho), Ninh Kieu Pier (Can Tho), Cai Rang Floating Market (Can Tho), Ba Chua Xu Temple (An Giang), Hon Khoai Island (Ca Mau), The cape of Ca Mau, Tram Chim National Park (Dong Thap)

At this present, there are many floating market in Mekong Delta like Nga Bay Floating Market (Hau Giang province); Nga Nam Floating Market (Soc Trang province); Cai Rang Floating Market (Can Tho); Cai Be Floating Market (Tien Giang province); Long Xuyen Floating Market (An Giang province), Tra On Floating Market (Vinh Long province), Phong Dien Floating Market (Can Tho). However, Cai Rang is a big wholesale market, and the most popular floating market of the region because of its location and accessibility.

Tourists will have the opportunities to visit 3 largest fruit orchards in Mekong delta where gather all distinctive fruits for the region. Moreover, each orchard has its own unique kinds of fruit: Cai Be fruit orchard (Tien Giang); Cai Mon fruit orchard (Ben Tre); Vinh Long fruit orchard. From May to August, Mekong Delta may be hot and humid, but in these months a variety of tropical fruits is fully grown and ready to eaten.

Mekong Delta is always a great destination plenty of travelers choose for during their holidays. Visiting the water region is considered as an awesome experience as they allow themselves to immerse into the tranquil natural charm while being rowed through small and calm canals by boat, biking on village pathways, catching fish in shallow ditches, and visiting traditional handicraft family businesses.
